Nevertheless, the focus of research has been on locating Achaemenid origins in the architectural forms of other conquered civilizations. More recently, a tendency has emerged that tries to analyze Achaemenid art and history on their own terms. However, little attention has been paid to Achaemenid architecture and building crafts. The sporadic studies cannot open up new horizons to gain a fuller understanding of Achaemenid building traditions. This paper aims at filling this knowledge gap. Given the unique engineering of the Achaemenid palatial complexes, it is of high importance to identify the technology used to realize such ambitious projects. Benefitting from an interpretive-historical research method, as well as reading the archaeological evidence through the lens of engineering knowledge, this study sheds new light on topics such as construction techniques and materials, effective resistance against destructive powers of nature, as well as the way through which building technology developed during the empire. The Achaemenids benefitted from a partial understanding of the physical properties of materials and the flow of forces in structures. Moreover, they not only employed the most effective techniques available by then but also invented genuine methods to improve the static behavior of their colossal palaces.   دستاوردهای هنری و معماری هخامنشیان از دیرباز توجه محققان را به خود جلب کرده‌اند، اما بیشتر تحقیقات صورت‌گرفته در این حوزه‌ها به یافتن ریشه‌های آثار امپراتوری هخامنشی در دیگر تمدن‌های باستان معطوف بوده است. در دهه‌های اخیر، تلاش‌های ارزشمندی برای شناخت مستقلی از تاریخ و ارزش‌های هنری آثار هخامنشی صورت گرفته، اما معماری و به‌ویژه فناوری به‌‌کارگرفته‌شده توسط آنان، تنها به‌صورت محدود و پراکنده بررسی گردیده است. چنین مطالعاتی نمی‌تواند افق‌های جدیدی را برای درک بهتر فرهنگ ساختمان‌سازیِ آن عصر پیش روی محققان باز کند. تحقیق حاضر در جست‌وجوی پر نمودن این خلأ دانش است. با در نظر گرفتن ویژگی‌های منحصربه‌فرد مهندسی در کاخ‌های هخامنشی، شناخت فناوری‌هایی که برای اجرای این بناها به کار گرفته شده، اهمیت فراوان دارد. با استفاده از پژوهش تاریخی‌تفسیری و تحلیل مهندسی از اسناد باستان‌شناسی، این مقاله روش‌های کاربرد مصالح و فنون ساختمانی، چگونگی مقابله با نیروهای ویرانگر طبیعت و روند توسعۀ فناوری معماری در امپراتوری هخامنشی را معرفی می‌کند. درک تقریبی از ویژگی‌های مصالح ساختمانی و نحوۀ جریان یافتن نیروها، همچنین کاربرد و ترکیب فناوری‌های موجود و توسعۀ هوشمندانۀ روش‌های جدید برای بهبود رفتار سازه‌ای بنا، از جمله مواردی بودند که ساخت بناهای عظیم سلطنتی هخامنشی را امکان‌پذیر ساخت.     https://jias.kashanu.ac.ir/article_111798_4b59045f36cf5e6f97530f897dafee85.pdf
